What Whitening System Does Lavin Family Dental Use and How Does It Work?
At Lavin Family Dental, we’re proud to offer the KöR Whitening System—a proven, professional solution for patients who want a brighter, longer-lasting smile.
Over the years, Dr. Lavin has researched and provided different whitening options, but after seeing the limitations of other systems, we believe KöR stands out as the most effective and reliable choice.
Why We Chose KöR Whitening
Many whitening systems advertised as “one-and-done” in-office treatments can brighten teeth, but the results often don’t last. These systems usually rely on a whitening light or laser, which temporarily dehydrates the teeth, making them appear whiter at first. Unfortunately, as teeth rehydrate, the darker shade tends to return, and patients are often left dealing with sensitivity.
KöR works differently. Instead of a quick fix, KöR uses a scientifically advanced process that provides deep, consistent, and longer-lasting whitening results with significantly less sensitivity.
How KöR Whitening Works
- Custom KöR Trays: Your trays are fabricated in the KöR lab and designed to fit precisely along your gumline. This unique “scalloped” design prevents whitening gel from leaking out, while also making the trays extremely thin and comfortable—you may even forget you’re wearing them.
- At-Home Whitening: Most patients wear their trays overnight. Depending on your age and the type of staining, Dr. Lavin may recommend anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks of nightly treatment.
- Whitening Gel: KöR uses carbamide peroxide rather than straight hydrogen peroxide. The difference? Hydrogen peroxide breaks down quickly and works best in short bursts, while carbamide peroxide breaks down gradually—allowing for hours of whitening activity while you sleep. This slow release means deeper stain removal, reduced sensitivity, and longer-lasting results.
- Oxygenation Phase: As the gel works, oxygen molecules deeply penetrate the enamel and dentin, breaking apart stain molecules. The longer this oxygenation phase continues, the more thoroughly the tooth microstructure is cleansed. This is why younger patients often whiten more quickly (less staining buildup), while older patients may need a bit more time.
The KöR Advantage
- Comfortable, custom-fit trays
- Deep, long-lasting whitening (not just surface-level)
- Minimal sensitivity compared to traditional systems and comes with a “desensitizer” product to apply to your teeth prior to whitening
- Effective even on stubborn stains, including those caused by age or medications
At Lavin Family Dental, we’ve seen firsthand how KöR Whitening transforms smiles with reliable, natural-looking results. If you’ve tried whitening before and felt disappointed by the sensitivity or short-lived results, KöR may be the solution you’ve been looking for.
